 lip fillersLip Fillers

One of the most popular types of dermal filler is for the lips. They make your lips bigger and fuller. Patients should be in good mental and physical health and have realistic expectations. Here at Life Medi Spa, we can help boost your confidence in your younger look.

What are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are injections that add volume to your lips, and are a type of dermal filler. Lip fillers consist of synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural substance in your body and comes in many different brands, such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Perlane®.

Why are Lip Fillers Used?

Lip fillers can make your lips fuller or give them more volume. They don’t stop the aging process, but they might put off the need for lip implants or a lip lift, which are more invasive ways to make your lips bigger. They can also help you get the look you want, which can help boost your self-esteem. Over time, your lips may get thinner due to:

  • Genetics
  • Smoking
  • Sun damage

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long do Lip Fillers Last?

Most lip fillers last between 12 and 18 months, but it depends on your age and how quickly your body turns calories into energy. Because younger people burn calories more quickly, lip fillers don’t last as long for them as they would for someone over 30.

What is a Lip Filler Treatment Like?

A topical anesthetic will be put on your lips by one of our experienced professionals before a lip filler procedure. The topical anesthetic will numb your lips so you don’t feel any pain and the process is as easy as possible. A lot of times, benzocaine, lidocaine, and tetracaine are in numbing creams, and y our lips should be numb in about 15 to 30 minutes.

Here at Life Medi Spa, our specialists will then use a thin needle to inject lip filler into any or all of your lips, including the edges, the curve in the middle of your upper lip, and the corners of your mouth. You won’t feel any pain, but you might feel like someone is pinching you, and your eyes might start to water.  The needle won’t go any further into your skin than 2.5 millimeters, and during the procedure, your specialist may put an ice pack on your lips to reduce swelling and bruises. The whole process could take as little as 30 minutes or as long as two hours, depending on each patient’s individual goals.

What to Expect from Lip Filler Recovery

Your pain should go away in 12 to 24 hours. After 24 to 48 hours, the swelling should go away, but it could take up to a week. Make sure you are fully recovered before a big event by giving yourself two weeks to recover from a lip filler treatment.
